The Less Greedy Foundation

The less greedy foundation You can only do so much with your money, why not give a little to people less unfortunate in hopes that one day someone will repay your favor? What we plan on creating is a platform where people who like to give back to the community are able to meet with the people who they are helping or giving back to face to face instead of giving your money to the hands of someone else who claims they will distribute it to needy families. Personally I don’t trust most people, so why would I give thousands of dollars to a foundation that won’t provide me a single piece of evidence as to where my money went? Thats a major problem most foundations face today. How this foundation operates would be that we link the donors to the donees and allow them to meet at a certain location, with our help, to enable them to see the reactions and the life changing experience the donors provided these families. Another reason why we want these two different groups of people to me...

Lets Work on the World

Being generous might play in your favor! The world we live in today faces a major problem, a problem that most people don’t realize is a problem at all, greed. Why and how is greed affecting the world today, and why or how would greed help better the world? What most people I’m surrounded by don’t seem to realize is how blessed we are, and I don’t blame them for not realizing. When your mainly surrounded with people who’s main struggles are grades and not food or something needed for survival its hard to see or realize what the rest of the world here.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPOVwKPMG8o (Please watch this video its life changing and one of the most inspirational video I have ever seen)   Believe it or not youtube made me understand some of the struggles the rest of the world faces. You simply never know how far being not greedy will take you. You may spend 5 dollars and say something like “who cares its only five dollars” and chuckle after that, what m...

My extra credit random post

My random post today is going to be about the new cameras that you've seen officers wear on their chests. Earlier this month I approached an officer and asked them the purpose of such cameras, and he told me that they wear them for not only their safety (a deterrent measure) but also to help identifying criminals. Earlier today though I stumbled upon this article involving these cameras. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/11/11/lawyer-says-body-cam-video-shows-lapd-officer-planting-drugs.html I am disgusted with LAPD after watching this video. I never would have believed that there are actually officers planting drugs on innocent civilians. What I really cant believe is that these officers tried to pull this stunt when each of them have a camera attached to their vests. As I was watching the video my blood began to boil as you see the cop pull a bag of narcotics from one of his pockets and throws it on the floor for another cop to pick it up and put it in this civilians wallet. I b...

Born on third base pt 2

My final thoughts on this book is that I enjoyed it most of the times, yet some of the ideals within the book are not on the same page as mine. What i really appreciated was that collins included economic facts within the book which allow me the reader to learn more not only through his mind but through facts as well. But what really caught my eye was that Collins said that the one percenters need to feel empathetic towards the 99%. I feel as if Collins is being ignorant by saying the one percenters don't feel empathetic to the rest of the population. Collins was born into the one percent, so he never was in the position of the one percenters who were born apart of the 99%. Coming from a family who was run out of their own country and came to America, I was told by my parents the daily struggles they went to when they came here without a single penny. My dad would shower at the YMCA in between shifts to make money, and i am not trying to sound as if im bragging but my mother and...

Born on Third Base Pt. 1

At this point in reading the book I have very mixed reviews, but the message that Chuck is trying to relay and teach his readers is one that i've never encountered before in a book. What really caught my eye as I was uncovering what the book was about is Chuck's choice of title. I love how the book is titled Born on Third Base because it means so much. In the authors case he means this by his financial position he was put in thanks to his parents. Chuck says that he was born into a family of wealth and a family that holds their position within the "1 percent" firmly.  Why I have mixed reviews of the book is because of the insane stunt Chuck makes, by donating all his inheritance to charity. Don't get me wrong what he did wasn't bad at all, personally I would never do such a thing because I want to give my family the brightest future possible, but I also think he could've been a lot smarter with his inheritance. If I was in his position with his motives ...

My Random Post 2

Image
I can not believe it.... I have no idea how I forgot to turn in my random blogpost on time. Currently i'm sitting on my bed, in shock, but trying to search for something "random" to talk about. I might as well talk about how I usually am persistent with completing all my assignments in the time frame given. It is a random blog post after all... Im usually good with turning in and doing all my work on time, but i guess I was just thrown off this weekend by having the AMDP proposal due (I guess I was just too comfortable with only having one assignment due every weekend). Going a little off topic now, but I honestly really enjoy doing these random blog posts. Im bringing this up because when I usually miss a deadline for a graded assignment I don't end up doing the assignment. But this assignment is different (hence the reason i'm still doing it after the due date). Why I enjoy doing this assignment is for a couple reasons. I really enjoy the freedom i have with w...

My life on the road pt. 2

Personally, I really enjoyed reading Steinam's book "My Life on the Road". Her continuous usage of anecdotes really helped me get a sense of her journey, and about the type of person she is. Her trip not only resonated with me, but also encouraged me to travel more. However, Steinam's book also reassured me that the things I feel I need most when I travel all seem rather trivial in the long run. Her usage of culture and activism, although I am not a female, helped me understand everything that she stands for. I think most of all the fact that I am not a female, but the book still resonated with me speaks volumes for her ability to move the people she communicates with, and in a sense, reading this book made me feel as though I was communicated with her. With that being said, I understood that an important theme of the book was the power of conversation, which is exactly what I got from reading the book. Steinam's advocacy in bringing people together no matter thei...
